One of our recent field trips was to our local post office to get a behind-the-scenes look at what happens to our mail. Our local Postmistress gave a very interesting and thorough tour.
Each child came with a letter they had written to be mailed to themself or a family member.
First stop: drop it in the mailbox.
Next we went around back and saw where all the letters came when they were dropped through the chute.
She stamped each letter with that day's date.
Now it's time to deliver the mail!
Mr. T putting his letter into our box. Pretty exciting stuff!
Watching the Postmistress run the stamp cancelling machine.
How much does everyone weigh?
Even seeing the loading dock was fun!
It was so much fun to see the post office...behind the scenes!
