Close Encounters of the Sprinkler Kind

He has no idea what's coming. I can hear the "Jaws" movie theme playing as the background to these photos...

Make it stop! Make it stop!

Making peace with the sprinkler.

Another unsuspecting victim plays happily while the sprinkler slowly creeps toward him...

"Where did this come from!?" The dilemma with the sprinkler is that its cold both surprises and freezes you so that you are unable to move as its icicle fingers rake down your body. Double trouble!

Cuddle time

I got me some wheels!

Here's T on a trike for the first time with his therapist in Juneau. He was so impressed that he was shocked into silence! He just kept looking down at his feet as if to say, "How in the world does this thing work?"

Vacation Bible School 2007

This year the theme was around the book of Jonah and his experiences running from, repenting to, and following God. Phil co-lead a group of 3rd and 4th graders and I co-lead the 2s and 3s group. Here are a few pictures from our week...

Here are the 2s and 3s singing...

This is T "helping" to lead music on stage with some of the "big kids."

Here's a video of the same thing:

Here they are watching the "big kids" play games outside.

This is Jill, one of the storytellers, talking about Christ dying on the cross with the 2s and 3s group.

Here Brian, the MC, is being pulled up by some of the VBS kids to "post a signal" as part of the opening program one day. The kids loved this!

Here are 3 of the 2s and 3s group all ready on their sled "boat" to act out the Jonah story. They did this over and over and over and over again all week. They especially loved getting sprayed with water during the storm part of the story.

This is another of our storytellers - this woman was acting the part of the worm in the Jonah story. Pretty cool costume!

Here's our 2s and 3s group doing the cheers they learned for the whole group of VBS kids. They were a big hit and loved performing in front of everyone!

Here we are playing another huge favorite from the week: "Where is Jonah?" We hid a little man under one of the 4 cups and then one of the kids had to find him. Hide and repeat, hide and repeat...this was incredibly popular for the 2 and 3 year olds.

This is another one of the storytellers - this man was acting as a pearl diver - that's why he has rocks tied around his waist.

T modeling his sailor hat!

Here's Phil with his group:

Asleep where?

We went in to check on T before we went to bed a few nights ago and could not see him anywhere in the darkness...until we realized he was asleep under his bed!

Animal sounds

Here's a cute book that T's speech therapist was using to encourage him to "be" different animals.
